New Media provided the strategy that helped transform retail banking in Australia which introduced new customer-centric retail environments that welcomed customers and leveraged many-core Australian lifestyle drivers. The Credit Union became a cafe, a lounge, a creche and a safe and secure digital banking gateway.

Project results

Store traffic increased by 1,367%, product sales increased by 931% and staff found that they built better customer relationships. The concept won the prestigious industry ABACUS Award for Innovation and was also adopted by the big four Australian banks.

The name Smart derives from the cooperation of the Swiss company Swatch with Mercedes-Benz. In 1998 the model line was subsequently expanded to include the rear-engine, rear-drive Roadster and a four-door, four-seat supermini aptly named For-four (the original City-Coupé was renamed For-two to fit the new naming scheme).

Client objectives

Increase sales across metropolitan regions of Australia. Develop an edgy campaign that will appeal to a hipster audience, aged 25 to 50 years old, the main demographic for Smart 4x2 vehicles.

Client solution

A campaign was developed and filmed in edgy Australian urban environments that reflected a spin on Australia's rugged and fun culture. Our campaign leveraged Australia's love of off-roading by cheekily mirroring the rough, edgy urban environments and their 4x4s with the 4x2 name. Our Smart Tracks campaign leads consumers to Smart dealerships via foot, car or public transport. “Follow the tracks” communication was used across all metro/urban areas of Sydney and Melbourne.

New Media were brought in to revitalize and align the Star Entertainment Groups' loyalty program across all its destinations and develop the resorts into Australia’s premier go-to gaming destination.

New Loyalty Cards optimise engagement and rewards

Client solution

New Media provided the strategy to evolve their loyalty program and aligned all their resorts with the same rewards based on spend. Challenges included mitigating risk caused by aligning their rewards program that customers experienced gains in one destination by reduced rewards in others. A comprehensive programme was developed to promote and highlight all the entertainment and experiences delivered across their destinations, live via metrolites and online.

Project results

The new loyalty program helped deliver constant revenue growth of 7% year-over-year. Profits grew by 33.7% and the loyalty program managed 1,743,698 domestic and 76,927 international clients and VIP customers rose 10% to record levels. Compare this to all other global gaming resorts that experienced a 5% or bigger decline in revenue, especially VIP customers.

Build a new social tech start-up and build a target database of 17,000 new registered subscribers so the directors could raise their second tranche through Seedrs.

New Media developed a strategy and campaign that used click-bait content across social media to encourage discussion and topic interest. Our challenge to deliver 17,000 new subscribers was compounded by Google Spaces, a rival product which started one month earlier and with access to the resources and funding of a media giant.

Project results

NGM were brought in to revitalize The Star Entertainment Groups loyalty program and develop the brand and resorts into Australia’s premier go to gaming destinations as part of their reset to ready the Group for the next stage of its growth and development.

NGM provided The Star with:

A strategic business review which included full market and competitor analysis.
Industry trends and how The Star could leverage opportunity.
New and innovative solutions to optimize customer lifecycle across a new segmentation matrix.
New Ai adtech was brought in to provide personalization and an always on experience.
NGM provided BI to help The Star Resorts reduce churn and used predictive analysis to optimize each individual customer and their experience.
A multilingual content strategy was developed to serve a diverse audience across the Asia Pacific region. We used Ai to deliver personalized content and messaging.

The Stars marketing changed completely; events were live streamed across digital outdoor screens in metro locations near each resort teasing local consumers to “drop in and share the experience.” Social and live stream channels were used to excite and interact.

The program helped propel The Star Entertainment Group to become the premier gaming destinations’ in Australia and helped deliver constant revenue growth of 7% year-over-year. Profits grew by 33.7% and the loyalty program managed 1,743,698 domestic and 76,927 international clients underpinning market share gains across both slots and tables. Domestic Private Gaming Rooms revenue increased by 12.4% during 2019/20 and VIP customers rose 10% to record levels.

Working with Goodman Fielder, we reinvigorated a children lunchbox snack and positioned the product via a new engaging brand. Uncle Toby’s Roll-Ups are a favoured choice for parents, making eating fruit fun for their kids. We invented a new world called Frubalia made up of Frubals, ‘balls of fruit’ characters that entertain and educate. This provided the platform to relaunch an exciting proposition that immediately made a powerful impact. Retailers were impressed with the inspired trade ordering 20% more than previous year quotas. And inspired shoppers acknowledge by filling their baskets. This campaign was a phenomenal success.
