Campaign to help Smart increase sales

The name Smart derives from the cooperation of the Swiss company Swatch with Mercedes-Benz. In 1998 the model line was subsequently expanded to include the rear-engine, rear-drive Roadster and a four-door, four-seat supermini aptly named For-four (the original City-Coupé was renamed For-two to fit the new naming scheme).

Client objectives

Increase sales across metropolitan regions of Australia. Develop an edgy campaign that will appeal to a hipster audience, aged 25 to 50 years old, the main demographic for Smart 4x2 vehicles.

Client solution

A campaign was developed and filmed in edgy Australian urban environments that reflected a spin on Australia's rugged and fun culture. Our campaign leveraged Australia's love of off-roading by cheekily mirroring the rough, edgy urban environments and their 4x4s with the 4x2 name. Our Smart Tracks campaign leads consumers to Smart dealerships via foot, car or public transport. “Follow the tracks” communication was used across all metro/urban areas of Sydney and Melbourne.

Increased sales by 14.9% across metro regions.

Delivering 34,000 new subscribers in one month

WeGather

WeGather is a global online platform where experts and enthusiasts can lead discussions on topics that matter to their community, and earn an income for providing that expertise and content. Discussion leaders can earn through tips and donations from their followers/audience and by hosting pay-to-access discussions. Discussion leaders are brought together in Communities (e.g. Fitness, Business, Relationships, etc), so it’s easy for users to find experts in that field and all their discussions in one place.

Client project objectives

Build a new social tech start-up and build a target database of 17,000 new registered subscribers so the directors could raise their second tranche through Seedrs.

Client solution

New Media developed a strategy and campaign that used click-bait content across social media to encourage discussion and topic interest. Our challenge to deliver 17,000 new subscribers was compounded by Google Spaces, a rival product which started one month earlier and with access to the resources and funding of a media giant.

Project results

New Media delivered in just one month more than 34,000 new subscribers through our click-bait media campaign for a media investment of only $27,000.a CPA of 0.79. WeGather raising was oversubscribed by $500,000.

Connecting Wine Australia with new emerging markets

Wine Australia is an Australian Federal Government statutory corporation that promotes and regulates the Australian wine industry. Wine Australia helps foster and encourage profitable, resilient and sustainable Australian wine grape and wine businesses by investing in Research and Innovation, building markets, disseminating market information and knowledge, encouraging adoption and ensuring compliance through our regulatory functions.

Client project objectives

Enable wine growers to connect with mature and emerging markets to communicate the personality of their wines and expand Australian exports.

Client solution

A new global strategy was developed which created a new digital conduit to connect growers with existing and new emerging markets. New global wholesalers and customers can now access growers to help them select and purchase Australian Wine direct from growers and the cellar door.

Australian growers can now exploit new opportunities and reach the right wholesale and distribution networks to help them lower costs and sell more Australian Wine to new and existing markets.

Project results

Our new strategy helped Australia’s wine industry expand at a compound annual growth rate of 6.4% (CAGR) and opened up new emerging markets such as China where Australian Wine exports grew to A$1.2 billion. China now accounts for over 40% of wine exports.
